On a motion by Mike Martin, seconded by Judith Ryan, the minutes for the August meeting were approved. Verna Browning gave a report on the Bluegrass Festival. By all accounts it appeared successful; the DGA reported that downtown sales tripled from sales at Labor Day last year. The motels reported that they were filled, however, the B &B's were not all filled. The Bluegrass Association was pleased with the attendance at the performances and felt that good TV coverage really helped promote Georgetown the event. They are eager to have it repeated next year. There will be a meeting on Monday to review the amount of money spent and the final assessment of the event. A report will be given at the next CVB meeting. Reports from subcommittees: Since Ken Mellender was absent there was no report from the Convention Center Subcommittee. John Wiley will discuss the proposed letter about the Lodging occupancy report that is to begin in October with the B &B Association, to obtain their feedback. The Strategic Planning Subcommittee and Marketing committee will be combined. Members will be Mike Martin, Bill Lipscom, and Bill Tally. A financial report was given by Verna, providing information about FY'02 expenditures. The City Council will adopt the FY'03 budget recommendations at their next meeting. There were no cooperative advertising requests to be considered. The DGA and the Main street committees are already working on the Christmas Stroll and the Poppy Fest. Verna reported the Cimarron Hills Parade of Homes will be the end of September and is featuring Historic Georgetown in its advertisement. The Chamber and CVB staff are working with the group bringing people to the downtown square area on those weekends. Agenda items suggested for the next meeting were: The Palace Theatre annual report, Standing Committee Reports and an item on the Website and putting the Heritage Home Tour on it. °olyn Martin moved to adjourn at 8:40 pm, seconded by John Wiley.
