If you need accommodations for a disability, please notify the city in advance. Convention and Visitors Bureau Board Members: Georgene Richaud, Stephanie Blanck, Nancy Benold, Bob Villarreal, Don McCullough, Shelly Patel, Steven Harris Convention and Visitors Bureau Board meets every second Friday of the month unless otherwise specified. Preserve, promote and enhance the cultural heritage and unique character of the community. Attract visitors to maximize the financial impact of tourism on the community. Present: Nancy Benold, Stephanie Blanck, Steven Harris, Cari Miller, Don McCullough, Shelly Patel, and Bob Villarreal Absent: Georgene Richaud Guests: P.J. Stevens, Jeff Harris, Roger Kidwell, Ilyanna Kadich Welcome /Call to order by: Nancy Benold ,vice chair, at 8:32 AM Discussion and possible action: Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the May 10, 2013 minutes - Bob V moved the minutes be approved as written, Stephen H. seconded - approved U.I.L. State Soccer Tournament Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant Follow -up Report Presentation— P. J. Stevens, Jeff Harris, and Roger Kidwell The follow up report had been distributed electronically - the actual tournament went very well with many still viewing the repeat telecast. PJ went through the report - UIL controls the gate while the district controls the concession. He indicated that the HOT grant is crucial to maintain this tournament in GT - it's what keeps UIL coming. Unfortunately there are not enough double rooms with inside corridor in GT for the teams to stay here. Brief discussion regarding next year improvements to the tournament outreach. Texas Half Century Club Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant Follow -up Report Presentation — Keith Parker could not attend but the report had been submitted for review. This event was very successful and 45 teams came in and many hotel rooms in GT were booked. This tournament helps fill hotel rooms during the week 1 7112/13 Discussion regarding the impact of transit on tourism: General dialog regarding the impact of the Lone Star Rail Collaborative vote by the City Council and its impact on tourism for the future. Concern was raised on the message that sends to the local merchants and hotels in our community. Discussion and possible action regarding CVB Goals & Objectives The CVB is strongly encouraged to visit the "Signature" areas of Georgetown Cari is recommending a visit to Inner Space - July 24th 2 PM Golf Cart Tour on the trails - Wed, Thurs or Saturday mornings Courthouse Tour - date August 2nd after the CVB meeting Cari will send dates out to CVB and get a tours organized Discussion and possible action regarding HOT grant application process Specific dates were distributed for discussion regarding exempt days for Grant Applications - the hotels are already full on these dates: Bob V. moves HOT grant applications not be accepted for the dates recommended, Stephanie B. seconded, passed Set agenda and date for August meeting August 2, 2013 is our next meeting and the CVB will begin meeting on the first Friday of the month July 31, 2013 is the next due date of the HOT grants and all CVB members will receive a copy one that date. August 2nd the requestors will each have ten minutes to pitch their request to the Board. Discussion and possible action regarding advertising and inedia exposure and dates of upcoining events The report is attached Stephanie B. moved that the meeting be adjourned at 9:41 AM - all approved.
