Discussion and possible action regarding CVG Goals and Objectives: Discussion involved collaboration with key entities on our signature destination: How do we get the entities to buy in? (chamber, hotels, retailers, restaurants, other nonprofits, DGA, Main- street Program, etc) - discussion. October 1 we will consider an RFQ for a Marketing Campaign with a kickoff luncheon with key stakeholders in the early Spring. Monthly information sharing meetings and Lunch and Learns will be considered to continue the collaboration and one cohesive message. * Discussed our Board Signature Tours over the summer: Courthouse Tour - fits our signature destination (Museum coordinates the tour), very impressive. Need more information at the CVB to promote the tour and the history of this courthouse. It's so much more than the building alone. Inner Space - geared toward family. There are many people who just go the Inner Space and never come into Georgetown. Need to educate the staff and encourage them to market the downtown - perfect place is the area where one is waiting for the tour (iPad station in the waiting area). Hike and Bike Trail - beautiful trails- hidden treasure. All were impressed with how many people from other towns come to our hike and bike trails. It is the only Wildflower hike and bike trail in Central Tx ... maybe coordinate with Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center to help plant even more flowers. Photography groups would want to come. Need to get the buy in with the Parks Dept. and go from there. Presentation by Mind Ecology on Tourism Market Research Study - Darren Drewitz Mr. Drewitz has worked with several other CVB's in Texas in order to determine who is coming here now, what IS already and how to develop a marketing plan based on the results. Cari M. has already spoken to several of the CVB Directors in those cities for feedback. There was a PowerPoint Presentation and discussion. There is a three week turnaround from time he gets the data to release of report back to CVB. Cost for the service is $8000.
