It was suggested that a fact sheet on the election should be created to help Commissioners answer questions within the law. Commissioners discussed these programs with emphasis on the downtown marketing program. Commissions also asked for more information on development in Georgetown. MOTION Crawford second Heideman to approve corrected minutes (unanimously approved). C.Comments from the Chair. Chair Smith discussed asking Kerry Oliver of the Georgetown Chamber Economic Development Committee to act as a liaison between the committee and this Commission. D.Section 551.087 Deliberation Regarding Economic Development – no executive session. E.Action from executive session – none. F.Presentation, discussion and possible action regarding staff report – Mark Thomas George Gomez presented the staff report in Mark’s absence. George discussed recent proposal activity, proactive marketing, upcoming conferences, the January regional partner meeting, the TEDC legislative conference, Governor’s office programs, Southwestern’s neighborhood planning meeting, and the community breakfast. Commissioner’s asked about the progress of the retention program and requested a monthly update. Tina Dunbar gave an update on the GIS system and introduced Rachel Osgood, commercial accounts specialist from GUS. Rachel explained her role at the City and answered many questions about GUS. G.Presentation, discussion and possible action regarding subcommittee reports No reports. H.Presentation, discussion and possible action regarding liaison reports Airport Master Plan (Heidemann) – Kathy reported the last meeting of the airport Master Plan Revision Committee and her belief that a request for information from the City concerning the Master Plan had been denied. In addition, she does not support the Master Plan and believes it does not address the negatives. Region Airport (O’Rourke) – The need for a regional airport as stated in the initial report may have been overstated. TxDot intends to go back to legislature and explain why the airport plan did not work. Hope to get population projections from Simon. Williamson County Sports Complex (Crawford) – Statesman has the feasibility report and is expected to run a story this weekend. Sports Complex committee met with the Star of Texas Rodeo staff to discuss use of area. I.Discussion and possible action regarding future meeting dates and agenda items February meeting will be held on the 17th and will be joint workshop style meeting on downtown issues.
