Board Members Present: Connie Watson, chair; Mike Burton, secretary; Ki Browning, Denise Jimenez, Rusty Winkstern Board Members Absent: Lucas Adams and Linda McCalla Staff Present: Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner; Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager Minutes Regular Meeting 1.The meeting was called to order at 8:35 a.m. by Board Chair Connie Watson. 2. Denise moved to approve the October 8 th meeting minutes, Connie seconded. All in favor, motion approved. 3.Connie mentioned the need for a new vice-chair since Judy Lester left the board. Rusty moved for Denise Jimenez to the position, Connie seconded. All in favor, motion approved. 6.Robbie gave a HARC report on Adi’s Italian Village going for signage approval , as well as simple window signage for Plus Four Dining. 7.Staff Report given by Shelly: ·Best of Georgetown award winner flyers were passed out and photos have been taken and posted on the Shop Georgetown and Downtown Georgetown facebook pages ·New Main Street scene ornament was viewed and is now on sale in the Visitor Info Center for $22/each. All proceeds go to future downtown holiday lighting. ·A holiday ad in Austin Monthly magazine and a TDA cooperative ad in Texas Highways were reviewed. 8.Committee Reports: a.Promotion: Denise reported about the committee recommending to sell 350 tickets, with 50 going to sponsors, so a total of 400 tickets to the 2011 Swirl. Save the Date cards are being printed before the Christmas Stroll to pass out. Denise moved to change Swirl volunteer appreciation from half-price tickets to an after party, Connie seconded. All in favor, motion approved. Denise showed the proposed Swirl poster design in art nouveau design. b.Economic Restructuring: Connie mentioned the Breakfast Bites roundtable training on January 19 (8-9:30 a.m.) in the Friends Room at the Library with Rusty, Judy and Sandra (with She Etc.) as the panel speakers for the first one. Kirk Kriegel will be the moderator. c.Design: no report d.Organization: no report e.Joint Arts & Culture: no report 8.The meeting was adjourned at 10 a.m. The December meeting is suggested for 4 p.m. at Wildfire. Board Members Present: Connie Watson, chair; Judy Lester, vice-chair;; Denise Jimenez, Lucas Adams, Rusty Winkstern Board Members Absent: Mike Burton, secretary; Linda Turner Staff Present: Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner; Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager Minutes Regular Meeting 1.The meeting was called to order at 8:36 a.m. by Board Chair Connie Watson. 2.Denise moved to approve the August 13 th minutes. The motion was seconded by Judy. Minutes approved by all board members present. 3.Cheryl Whilhite with Galaxy Cupcakes requested a 9-month extension to her original $10,500 façade grant to complete a new expansion into their courtyard that had a September deadline of completion. Connie moved to approve the 9-month façade grant extension, Judy seconded. Motion approved by all board members present Bob Kostka with the Palace Theatre presented a handout requesting an increase of $2,877.19 in the original reimbursement amount of their façade grant, this would bring the total façade grant up to $9,043.19 which is half of their final costs of $18,086.37. Connie moved to approve the increase of the façade grant reimbursement amount to a total of $9,043.19, Lucas seconded. Motion approved by all board members present. 4.Bill Hein with His & Her Treasures at112 W. 8 th St. presented a façade grant application for $454.13 to repair and repaint front façade with the same color scheme. Rusty moved to accept the façade grant, Judy seconded. Motion approved by all board members present. 5.Robbie Wyler gave the HARC update: ·Nothing new to report , just requests for new signage. 405 Austin Ave. still marketing and may break ground early 2011 6.Staff Report given by Shelly: ·Pink Heals postcards with all the event information on this year’s Pink Heals events, including the new Pink.Georgetown.org website where people can register for the new 5K Run/Walk and details on buying Pink Hope Pennants to decorate the courthouse lawn ·Showed a copy of the new Best of Georgetown logo to start contest on October 1 on Shop.Georgetown.org 7.Committee Reports: a.Design: Lucas reported no meeting was held, but said the committee decided on the street scenes including ones of the old Masonic Lodge building on Main Street to submit for this year’s Main Street Collectible Ornament Series. He showed example mock up of the ornament. b.Promotion: Denise reported that the 2010 Swirl committee met on Sept. 9 and discussed doing a call to artists for artwork for this year’s Swirl to incorporate more art into our downtown events. Denise moved to do a call to artists, Rusty seconded. Motion approved by all members present. She also discussed the issue of whether to hold an after-party for Swirl volunteers or to offer them ½ price tickets. After board discussion, the recommendation was to offer ½ price tickets. c.Economic Restructuring: Connie said the committee didn’t meet due to the flooding but will meet on the regularly scheduled last Wednesday of the month, Sept. 29 d.Organization: no meeting, but Connie discussed Linda Turner’s resignation letter submitted for the board due to personal conflicts e.Joint Arts & Culture: meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. on first Wednesday of the month at City Offices Conference Room (Oct. 6) 8.The meeting was adjourned at 9:24 a.m. The next meeting is set for October 8. All in favor, none opposed. The motion was seconded by Denise. Minutes were approved by all board members present. 3.Robbie Wyler gave the HARC update: ·Georgetown Off the Square at 400 Austin Ave. is a mixed-use, upper-floor residential project for urban senior living has received its first round of approvals from HARC in regards to the building height and site. The second round will be approval of actual materials. ·Adi’s Italian Village restaurant received approval for signage ·The county also received approval for a new temporary county parking lot south of the Sheriff’s office since the county parking garage has some structural issues 4.Staff Report given by Shelly: ·New Downtown Georgetown Texas Facebook site currently has 106 “friends”, with reps from the Williamson Museum, DGA, Main Street, CVB, Planning & Development, the Palace and the County making posts. ·A new “Best of Georgetown” contest will be started by the city in October for folks to vote online at the Shop.Georgetown.org site on 50 different business categories. Award winners will be announced at First Friday on November 5. ·Georgetown has won the gold level of Scenic City Certification which is an inaugural award from Scenic Texas. The awards ceremony will be in Austin on Sept. 16. 5.Committee Reports: a.Promotion: Denise reported that the next meeting is July 15 where the committee will review the proposed February 26 event date and ideas of who should be honorary event chair b.Design: Lucas reported that a discussion was had with City PIO Keith Hutchinson on the idea of creating small business videos for downtown that could be posted on city websites c.Economic Restructuring: Rusty said discussion at last meeting was in regards to the possibility of a social media workshop. The next ER Committee will be moved to 8:30 a.m. on August 4 th . d.Organization: no report 6.The meeting was adjourned at 9:59 a.m. The next meeting is set for August 13. Book Pride is approved for a canopy sign. Poppy Tots at 711 S. Main is approved for canopy sign that will be up before Red Poppy Festival. Three-Legged Willies will be open in early April. 5.Budget 2010/11 board input will include filling out forms and to remember the focus of the board when filling it out. It will be a slim budget year. 6. Staff Report: a. Downtown Promotion Reporte r- March issue – Georgetown article on branding and billboards for downtown as a wine and food destination. b.Annual Board training will be April 20, 2010 with Jill Robinson with the Texas Historical Commission. c. Holiday 2010 Meeting- activities going on every weekend d. National Preservation Conference is October in Austin. There is a March deadline for field session proposals. e. Pink Heals Tour is Wednesday, October 13. Main Street will be closed between 7 th and 8 th streets. April 1 meeting is in the Fire Administration Building. Proceeds go to Breast Cancer Resource Center of Williamson County. f. National Preservation Month is May. “Old is the new green” 7. Committee Reports: a. Promotion: Revenues of nearly $15,000 were reported for the Swirl Event. Not all expenses are in, but expected profits of $10,000 are anticipated. Should open around Spring Break. Bringing 30-50 jobs. Galaxy Cupcakes will be coming to HARC to expand into their courtyard.
