Business, discuss panelists.
B.Maintain contact with existing businesses to address their needs and

The Main Street Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Friday , March 15, 2013.
Board Members Present:

Minutes
Regular Meeting
1.The meeting was called to order at 8:31 a.m. by Board Chair David Kellerman.
2.Jim moved to approve the February 8
th
board meeting minutes, Amanda seconded.
All board members approved. (7-0). Julie moved to approve the February 26
th
special-called board meeting minutes, Marcy seconded. All board members present
approved (7-0).
3.David went over the board bylaws since he had recently gone to the first board chair
training.
4.David also stressed the importance of at minimum of 75% attendance at board and
committee meetings. Board members are allowed two absences due to sickness or
military reasons.
5.David discussed the board’s meeting time and the board decided to leave as is. He
will try his best to keep meetings to an hour.
6.David moved to nominate Julie Laderach as board vice chair, Linda seconded. All
board members approved (7-0). David moved to nominate Marcy as secretary ,
Amanda seconded. All board members approved (7-0).
7.David asked each board member to select their primary and secondary committees
to serve on for the upcoming year , and to decide which committee they would like
to co-chair. Amanda agreed to continue as chair of the Design Committee.
8.Matt gave HARC report that KSA Engineers at 1008 Main Street and Little Caesar’s
Pizza at gas station on NW corner of University Ave. and Main Street will go to the
next HARC meeting for review. Finalized design guidelines are posted online at
historic.georgetown.org . Updating historic survey, and RFP for Nore Winter to
update master plan will have a June decision. Union on 8
th
goes March 26 for
special-use permit, needs a super majority to pass.
9.Committee Reports:
a.Promotion: Cindy reported that Trisha and she have decided to co-chair the
Swirl next year. The profit for Swirl was $15,000 which met the board’s annual
action plan goal.
b.Design: Amanda reported that Nick Ramos attended committee meeting to
discuss the call for art for the Main Street mural on the side of Balance Spa
location facing Grace Church. Discussed piggybacking on Art Hop’s call for art
and Nick recommended we pay an artist at least $2000. The mural would be
unveiled at Gallery Georgetown on October 12. We would charge artists $25 for
up to three art entries, and the cost of the framing and materials could be up to
$3000. Amanda moved to allocate of up to $5000 total out of the Façade Fund
for the Main Street mural project , Linda seconded. Discussion included Marcy
thinking this money could be used for façade grants instead. All board
members approved (7-0). Matt reminded that we would have to receive HARC
approval for mural design.
c. Economic Restructuring: Jim reported on Southwestern University tour .
Amanda mentioned they’d like to do that twice a year to different groups. Pep
rallies for the Southwestern University football will take place downtown on
September 6 and November 1. Matt mentioned the city offering $1500 for
grants to downtown merchants for 20 card readers. Looking to be in place by
September. May 2 is next Breakfast Bites training with SU panel.
d.Organization: no report
6.Shelly reported that next board meeting will be April 19 for annual board retreat
with Cathy Sak of TDA, and gave an update on the art center opening in June and
ThunderCloud in early May.

1.The meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by Board Chair Denise Jimenez.
2.Elizabeth Lockhart presented her façade and sign grant application to paint all wood
trim white, change the fabric awning to a metal tie-rod canopy, add individual metal
lettering signage. All changes are subject to approval by HARC at their Thursday
meeting.
3.David made a motion to approve the façade and sign grant for $3,550 if a written
proposal for all the work is submitted, Jim seconded. All board members present
approved. (5-0, Amanda Parr and Linda McCalla absent).
4.The meeting adjourned at 9:10 a.m.

Regular Meeting
1.The meeting was called to order at 8:33 a.m. by Board Chair Denise Jimenez.
2.David moved to approve the January 11
th
board meeting minutes, Jim seconded. All
board members present voted to approve. (6-0, Amanda Parr absent).
3.Erin Rost with the Dimmitt Building gave an update to the board in regards to the
need for another façade grant extension at 717 S. Main St. She discussed all the
hurdles they have run into with their first contractor and architect that have since
been replaced. They met with THC and are moving forward on tax credit
paperwork since they have a second-floor office tenant wanting to move in this
summer. Linda moved to approve a grant extension till June 1 with the condition
that the board be provided with monthly contractor updates on the project , Julie
seconded. Five board members voted to approve the grant extension (5-1, David
Kellerman opposed and Amanda Parr absent).
4.Matt gave HARC report that next HARC meeting will review Southern Hippie’s
application in the former Run-Tex location to replace the fabric awning with a
tie-rod canopy, change paint colors and add signage. An RFP will be issued for
updating the Downtown Master Plan.
5.Committee Reports:
a.Promotion: Denise reported that there are currently 9 retailers participating
and Trisha is working on final one. Wine auction ticket sales need to be
focused on.
b.Design: committee met on Tuesday. Mural project on Eric Visser’s building on
Main Street had a request for legal agreement with city to maintain the mural.
Discussed call to artists and that the theme would just be general Georgetown.
Also discussed the private alley art space. Amanda will set up meeting with
Jim Briggs to discuss funding for downtown holiday lighting. Linda also
mentioned need for uplighting on county lawn trees and speaking with Valerie
Covey. Possibly adding some trees down near Wildfire.
c. Economic Restructuring: Jim reported on Southwestern’s annual Martha
Diaz Hurtado College Town Award reception for College Town Committee
and tour of SU is next Thursday. Had meeting on SU pep rallies to kick off the
football season. Reviewed Market Analysis workshop in Llano and Chet
Garner speaking at last Breakfast Bites.
d.Organization: Linda asked about the status of the non-profit account
application with the Legal department. Laurie said she would follow up.
6.Shelly gave staff report that listed reminders on dates for annual board training with
the Jill Robinson with the THC as well as annual board retreat with TDA. Also
upcoming dates were listed for their calendars.
7.Denise gave her final good-byes and thank you’s as board chair. We gave her a
downtown gift from the board.
8.The next board meeting will be moved to March 15 due to Community
Development Institute training. David requested we list an update to the façade and
sign grant application to the next agenda. The meeting adjourned at 9:58 a.m.

Minutes
Regular Meeting
1.The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Board Chair Denise Jimenez.
2.Denise moved to approve the December 5
th
board meeting minutes, Julie seconded.
David corrected David Cohen from Monument Café to ThunderCloud Subs. All
board members present voted to approve with recommended correction (6-0, Marcy
Urban was not present to vote).
3.Valerie gave HARC report from the December 13 meeting: Joseph Aubin and
ThunderCloud Subs façade improvements were approved. New Historic District
Planner Matt Synatschk is starting work on January 22.
4.Committee Reports:
a.Promotion: Denise reported that there will be 10 retail stops and two local
wineries participating. We currently already have around 50 wine bottles
collected for the wine auction, so board members will be responsible for getting
less donated this year. Wine auction tickets were distributed and each board
member is responsible for selling a minimum of 20 each.
b.Economic Restructuring: Jim reviewed the Fredericksburg Trip report and the
made a motion for the top seven goals to be added to the city’s Signature
Destination annual goals which include:
1.Public parking lot with retail on first floor
2.Green/amphitheater square space with public restrooms
3.Determine sustainable funding for downtown holiday lighting
4.Pursue downtown lodging options (less restrictive for B&Bs and a
boutique hotel)
5.Investigate to restrict first floor to retail/restaurant/attractions only (no
office)
6.Synergy shared between CVB , Chamber, E.D. and Main Street (i.e.
shared office space like Fredericksburg)
7.Visioning and shared priorities of city council and partnering boards
David seconded the motion. All board members present voted to approve (6-0,
Amanda Parr was not present to vote).
The
College Town Committee meeting will win Southwestern’s annual Martha Diaz
Hurtado College Town Award at the Chamber banquet in February. Breakfast
Bites in February will be Chet Garner with “The Daytripper” show and the
May one will be with SU Football Coach Joe Austin along with lacrosse coach.
Another SU Tour will take place on February 21 at 10 a.m.
c. Design: Amanda had to leave the meeting, but the splash pad for the art
center was approved by city council.
d.Organization: no meeting or report
5.Shelly provided the board with a written staff report that listed an update that
approximately $2953 was raised this year with the Main Street Collectible Ornament
Series. Eighty-eight tickets have been sold online for Swirl. Also upcoming dates
were listed for their calendars.
6.The next board meeting will be February 8. The meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
