An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, renaming the current "Stadium Drive" to "Chamber Way" and a portion of CR 151 to "Stadium Drive "; repealing conflicting ordinances and resolutions; including a severability clause; and establishing an effective date. Whereas, on January 24, 2006, the City adopted an ordinance establishing a uniform addressing and street naming policy for the City; and Whereas, due to annexation of areas that include portions of CR 151 Right of Way, the continued use of the name "CR 151" on the annexed portion is inconsistent with the City's street naming policy; and Whereas, the Georgetown Independent School District (GISD) opened the new Athletic Complex and Birkelback Field, a football stadium, in 2008, with a primary entrance off CR 151, and demolished the old football stadium located on Stadium Drive; and Whereas, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce is the sole addressee on the existing Stadium Drive; and Whereas, the City Council of the City of Georgetown finds that it is in the public's best interest to resolve these inconsistencies by assigning names to the subject streets in a manner consistent with the City's street naming policy.
