Members Present: Debbie Frase, Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Christy Hullum, Erica Haley, Ken Finn and Patty Eason Members Absent: Staff Present: Jackie Carey Minutes Regular Meeting Meeting called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Debbie Frase. 1. Citizens comments —none. 2. Discussion and possible action on Animal Services SOPS — After a short discussion about the use of the animal trap usage agreement Ken Finn motioned to have the Dealing with Wildlife and Animal Handling SOPs approved and accepted. Erica Haley seconded and the motion passed unanimously. 3. Discussion and possible action on Pet of the Week in Williamson County Sun — Because of indications that the Williamson County Sun newspaper may stop running the "Pet of the Week" article as a free service, inquiries were made by shelter management to the newspaper on this subject. Currently, the article continues to be published as a free service. However, this situation will continue to be monitored. 4. Report on new State "dog tethering law" — After review by the city lawyer, it was determined that the new state law covering dog tethering did not significantly affect the existing laws in this area and did not meet the expectations of the advisory board in reducing the instances of dog tethering in Georgetown. A motion was made by Ken Finned and seconded by Keith Fruge to have the board review existing dog tethering laws in other cities and to outline a campaign to garner citizen support as preliminary steps in developing a dog tethering ordinance for Georgetown. 5. Discussion and possible action on Chairman, Assistant Chairman of ABAS — Ken Finn motioned and Christy Hullum seconded a motion to take a vote to formally elect Debbie Frase as the Chair of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board. Motioned passed unanimously and Debbie Frase was elected by a unanimous vote. Erica Haley then made a motion to nominate Christy Hullum as the Assistant Chair and Ken Finn seconded. The motion passed unanimously and the board voted unanimously to make Christy Hullum Assistant Chair of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board. 6. Discussion and possible action on vacant position on ASAB — A discussion took place on filling the open position on the Advisory Board. Kenn Finn stated he would make initial contact with a potential candidate and report back to the Advisory Board at the next meeting. Meeting adjourned by chair at 7:03 p.m.
