HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_08.16.2007Minutes of the Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Thursday, August 16, 2007 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday, August 16, 2007 Members Present: Shawn Gunnin, Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Christy Hullum, and Patty Eason Members Absent: Debbie Frase, Erica Haley and Ken Finn Staff Present: Jackie Carey Minutes Regular Meeting Meeting called to order at 6:06 p.m. by Shawn Gunnin. 1. Citizen comments —none. 2. June 2007 minutes — Motion by Christy Hullum to accept the minutes as presented and was second by Keith Fruge. Minutes were accepted unanimously. 3. Report from Shelter Director — Jackie Carey presented the shelter report for the month of July. Cat stray intakes continue to be high. Work continues on the second "Pet Calendar" fund raising project as well as for the "Art for Animals" event planned for September. The next reduced cost spay /neutering event is being held at the shelter September 8`h and the focus will be on Pitt Bull breeds. Georgetown Animal Outreach provides the funding and Emancipet is performing the procedures. 4. Discussion and possible action on Standing Operating Procedures — This item was moved to the September meeting. 5. Discussion and possible action about completed items from the HSUS recommendations — This item was moved to the September meeting. 6. Discussion and possible action on disaster preparedness — This item was moved to the September meeting. 7. Review, discussion and possible action on 2006 ordinance revisions — Overall, the new ordinance revisions are proving to be effective and workable. The micro chip policy has reduced the number of repeat intakes of animals. The city attorney will soon brief the animal shelter staff on the legalities of the new Texas Dog Tether law which will soon go into effect. Meeting adjourned by chair at 6:35p.m.
