The Animal Shelter Advisory Board Shawn Gunnin, Keith Fruge, Patty Eason, Ken Finn, Debbie Frase,
Christy Hullum & Erica Haley of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday, May 17, 2007.

Regular Meeting
The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday, May 17, 2007.
Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chair, Shawn Gunnin.
1. Citizen comments — none.
2. March 2007 minutes — Motion by Debbie Frase to accept the minutes as presented. Second by
Christy Hullum. Minutes were accepted unanimously.
3. Report from Shelter Director — Jackie Carey presented the shelter report for the month of April. Of
note, cat intakes were up and dog adoptions numbers were weak. The Georgetown shelter will become a
participant in the Pet Alliance of Central Texas (PACT). Some of the goals of PACT are to have joint
events, trade animals and share costs /resources.
4. Discussion and possible action to change the term limit in the bylaws of the Animal Shelter
Advisory Board — Discussion took place concerning actions necessary to amend the bylaws of the
animal shelter concerning term limits of shelter officials serving on the Animal Shelter Advisory Board.
Motion by Shawn Gunnin to add back in "two" term limits. Seconded by Debbie Frase and the motion
passed unanimously.
5. Discussion and possible action on budget requests for items recommended by HSUS report. —
AII requested funding was approved by the city council. This was considered a significant victory in the
quest for rapidly improving the shelter's facilities and capabilities.
6. Discussion and possible action on disaster preparedness — Shawn Gunnin requested clarification
on the cat rescue procedures from Ken Finn for the next advisory board meeting.
7. Discussion and possible action on Board's goals. — Shawn Gunnin lead a discussion reviewing the
level of success in realizing Board goals established in 2005. It was determined that most goals were
achieved and others were modified or clarified. Christy Hullum volunteered to lead the initial effort on
possibly recommending to city council a proposal to change the city code in an attempt to significantly
reduce the instances of chained dogs in the city.
Meeting adjourned by chair at 6:55 p.m.
