Members Present: Shawn Gunnin, Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Ken Finn, Debbie Frase, Erica Haley, Christy Hullum, Patty Eason Members Absent: None Staff Present: Jackie Carey Minutes Regular Meeting Meeting called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chair, Shawn Gunnin. 1. Citizen comments — none. 2. December 2006 minutes — Motion by Shawn Gunnin to accept the minutes as presented. Second by Keith Fruge. Minutes were accepted unanimously. 3. Report from Shelter Director — Ken Finn reported on the annual statistics for animal services for 2006. Most categories trended positively from the previous year. Notably, the number of cat nuisance complaints and cat intakes showed over a 30% reduction from 2005. 4. Update and possible on task force reviewing HSUS recommendations — Work on the recommendations is complete and the material is being made ready for presentation to the city council in February. 5. Update and possible action on Shelter security measures. Ken stated that some bush trimming has taken place. Any other action will require additional city funding. Ken has submitted a request for additional funding for this year's budget cycle. 6. Update and possible action on bill payment procedures. Ken stated that changes have been made within the police department to hopefully streamline the bill payment procedures to veterinarians who perform services for the shelter. He will provide feedback to the board over the next several months. 7. Discussion and possible action on new ordinance enforcement. The animal control and shelter personnel are enforcing the new ordinance provisions. Information on the new provisions and its enforcement has been disseminated to the police officers through the police department management. 8. Discussion and possible action on disaster preparedness planning — Ken requested that the issue be brought up for discussion at the February board meeting and the board members agreed. Erica stated that she was receiving positive feedback from area veterinarians to her letter requesting support to volunteer their time during disasters. Meeting adjourned by chair at 7:01 p.m.
