A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZNG THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT
GRANT FUNDS FROM THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT AND
THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF
THE STATE OF TEXAS AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the United States Government and the Criminal Justice
division of the Governor's Office have made funds for the 2001-2002 fiscal year
available for grant programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown seeks approval of submission for
funding for the purposes of obtaining equipment and technology for a training
facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by
reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
SECTION 2
The City Council has found that this action implements Public Safety
Policy End 8.00 of the Century Plan which states: "Citizens of Georgetown feel
safe and are well protected from crime and disorder, natural disasters and
emergencies;" and has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict with
any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the
Administrative Chapter of the Century Plan.
SECTION 3
The City of Georgetown prepared and will submit to the Criminal Justice
Division (CJD) of the Governor's Office a grant application for funding
consideration for equipment and technology for training.
SECTION 4
The City of Georgetown will be responsible for an amount not to exceed
the required 10% match of the grant request.

SECTION 5
The City of Georgetown will return any funding to the Criminal Justice
Division of the Governor's Office in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds.
SECTION 6
This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
RESOLVED this 16th day of January, 2001.
