A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING CONTINUED WORK OF THE HOUSING ELEMENT WORKING GROUP AND STAFF ON RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HIGH DENSITY RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENTS. WHEREAS, the Century Plan Housing Element Working Group was appointed by the Georgetown City Council to assist the Council in developing a vision and policies to direct housing planning for the community; and WHEREAS,the Council has asked the Working Group to develop recommendations for a manufactured housing ordinance; and WHEREAS,the Working Group has developed an alternative recommendation for a zoning category, described as High Density Residential (HDR); and WHEREAS,this alternative recommendation is consistent with and helps to implement the policy statements developed by the Working Group; and WHEREAS, the Working Group has requested that the Council indicate support for the policy statements and alternative recommendation called HDR prior to the Group and staff investing additional time and resources on this work; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are found to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the following policies of the Century Plan. - Policy Plan Element: Housing Policy End 6.0: All citizens have access to safe and affordable housing opportunities SECTION 2. The City Council supports and approves the Housing Element Working Resolution No. ey ` 1— X Page 1 of 2 Group's policy statements as drafted October 7, 1999, and the Group's recommendation for a zoning category called High Density Residential, to be developed as an alternative to the manufactured housing ordinance. The Council further authorizes staff and the Group to continue working on this concept and to develop all necessary regulations and ordinances, to be brought back to the Council for approval when completed. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon approval. RESOLVED THIS DAY OF April 11, 2000.
