A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS FROM THE UNITED STATES
GOVERNMENT AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE OF
THE STATE OF TEXAS AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the United States Government, the Attorney General's Office have
approved funds for the 2000 - 2001 fiscal year for continuation of existing grant
programs; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Police Services was the recipient of additional fiends
to supplement existing funds for the purposes of providing enhanced and mandated
victim services under a Victim Services Representative Grant; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found
and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that
this resolution implements the Education Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan
Element, which states: "The City will encourage and cooperate with public and private
entities to promote diverse and comprehensive educational opportunities;" and Facilities
and Services Policy 1, which states: "The City will endeavor to increase the quality of life
through the upgrading of existing facilities and services and the provision of new services
to meet the specific needs of the commmunity;" and Governmental Affairs Policy 1, which
states: "The City will actively pursue increased cooperation with all other entities which
provide services in the community;" and further finds that the adoption of this resolution
is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by
Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto the
Grantee Acceptance Notice with the Attorney General's Office on behalf of the City of
Georgetown.

SECTION 3
This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
