HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 201010-U - Plan Process HOV & Mobility. 0/0/0 A s •- • WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has received a request from the Texas Department of Transportation ( "TxDOT ") to participate in the planning and implementation of a High Occupancy Vehicle Lane and a Regional Mobility System (the "Project ") to provide for effective carpooling, vanpooling and other alternative transportation means; WHEREAS, TxDOT has also requested the participation of the Cities of Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park and Austin, and other transportation providers such as Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority; and WHEREAS, on June 27, 2000, a presentation was made to the Council concerning the Project; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be in the best interest of the citizens of Georgetown to allocate staff resources to attend related meetings to consider participation in the Project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Transportation Policy End 10.00 of the Century Plan — Policy Plan Element, which states "Citizens and commercial goods move safely and efficiently throughout all parts of the City" and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Georgetown hereby resolves to dedicate the necessary staff resources to attend meetings with the Texas Department of Transportation and area cities and transportation providers to consider participating in the implementation of a High Occupancy Vehicle Lane and Regional Mobility System. Resolution No. 401010-6( HOV Lane & Regional Mobility System Page 1 of 2 The City Street Superintendent is hereby designated as the representative of the City of Georgetown for the purpose of attending such meetings. SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this Resolution and the City Secretary to attest thereto on behalf of the City of Georgetown. SECTION 4.
