WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Council supports a comprehensive multi-modal transportation infrastructure that promotes enhanced mobility, economic vitality, and improved quality of life for the citizens of Georgetown and Central Texas; and WHEREAS, the proposed tolled parkway known 8S State Highway 13OwiUbe aChUC8 contributor to the north-south mobility, enhanced traffic safety, and improved air quality iDthe Central Texas area; and WHEREAS, 8H13O will provide important relief from congestion OO existing north-south traffic arteries, including |H35 and Loop 1; and VVHERE/\S, development OfSH13O3t the earliest possible time iS vital b}the interests of those who depend upon mobility in the Central Texas region; and WHEREAS, the Texas Turnpike Authority Division Of the Texas Department of Transportation has prepared aDraft Environmental Impact Statement /OE|S\ which contains the preferred and alternative routes for SH 130; and WHEREAS, the route contained in the [}EIS in the iD1018di3t8 vicinity ofGeorgetown is one which the Georgetown City Council has supported in previous resolutions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained iD the preamble Vf this resolution are hereby found and declared b]betrue and correct, and are incorporated bv reference herein and expressly made 8 part hereof, asif copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Transportation Policy End 10.00 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan B8FneOt, which states: "Citizens and CODlDleFCi3| goods [OOVG safely and efficiently throughout all parts Of the Cih/'; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution iS not inconsistent O[iO conflict with any other CHO1U[y Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the AdOliOiSt[8bv8 Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. The City Council supports the construction OfState Highway 13Oalong the preferred route alternative iOthe vicinity OfGeorgetown. |O regard tO alternative routes hJthe south of the Georgetown area, the City Council supports whichever alignment is able to be 8|igOed, designed and constructed the fastest possible way consistent with high standards Of safety, 8ffe{tiVeOesS, aesthetic quality, OniOi[Oa| O8ighbOdlOOd iOlp8[t. and [n8Xi[OU[O 8Dvin]n[OeOt8| protection. The City Council urges the Texas Turnpike Authority to give its strongest consideration in the planning of the initial construction of the roadway to include a connection at IH35 north of Georgetown.
