A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, , , !, ; TING THE YOUTH OF
GEORGETOWN ! UGH THE CREATION OF ;'
4-DVISORY BOARD.
WHEREAS; the City of Georgetown seeks to assist in the development of
educational, economic, and social assets for youth; and
WHEREAS, the Fall 1998 Georgetown Youth Summit, sponsored by the
Georgetown Project, recommended the creation of a youth advisory board; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown strives to be a partner in building a
developmental assets community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, through the creation and support of a
youth advisory board, will have a resource through which to receive suggestions and
solutions for youth issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETON, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this
resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are
incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied
verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the
following policies of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element:
1. Government Affairs Focus End 6.1, which states: "All citizens
actively participate in government functions," and
2. Government Affairs Focus End 6.2, which states: "The City develops
and coordinates service delivery policies with Williamson County, the
Georgetown Independent School District and other organizations that
provide services to Georgetown."
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Georgetown supports the
creation of a youth advisory board.
SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City
Secretary to attest thereto this resolution on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
