HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 990511-O - Airport Lease John CannanRESOLUTION • q610511— A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN ADDENDUM TO THE AIRPORT LEASE AGREEMENT WITH JOHN H. CANNAN, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown did enter into a Lease Agreement for certain Airport Property with McKinney & Moore, Inc., on June 30, 1981, and assigned to John H Cannan on March 28, 1989; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cannan desires to enlarge his hangar by approximately 3000 square feet; and WHEREAS, this investment is not economically feasible with only 12 years left on the original lease; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cannan has requested that the lease terms be extended for 20 years plus a 10 year option, effective May 1, 1999, at the new rental rate of $0.10 per square foot per year; and WHEREAS, The Airport Advisory Board recommends that the Council approve this addendum. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are found to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the following policies of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element: 1. Economic Development Policy End 1.0, which states, "Georgetown's economy is self - sustaining through diversified growth, a broad tax base with minimal impact from economic fluctuation, enhanced business opportunity and job creation." 2. Transportation Policy End 12.0, which states, "Georgetown's transportation system provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and adequately serves the needs of individuals. Resolution No. y'51-0 Page 1 of 2 SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto Addendum No. 2 to the Lease Agreement between the City of Georgetown and John H. Cannan, on behalf of the City of Georgetown. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption. RESOLVED THIS DAY OF 1999.
