A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS DIRECTING THE
URBAN DESIGN TASK FORCE TO PROCEED WITH THE REVIEW AND
-ROPOSAL OF MODIFICATIONS TO THE SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS AND THE
SIGN ORDINANCE WITH REGARD TO SPECIFIC POLICIES CONTAINED IN THE
WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Georgetown was amended by vote of the
people in April 1986 such that comprehensive planning was established as a continuous
and ongoing governmental function; and
WHEREAS, said City Charter now states that the comprehensive plan shall include
but not be limited to 13 elements which are coordinated and internally consistent, including
"an urban design element"; and
WHEREAS, the Urban Design Element was adopted by the City Council on August
11, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City Council appointed a citizen task force to review and propose
modifications to the Subdivision Regulations and the Sign Ordinance and hired a
consultant, J.D. Wilson and Associates to assist in the preparation of these modifications,
on July 13, 1999.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution
are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference
herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby
finds that this resolution implements Urban Design Policy End 13.0 of the Century Plan -
Policy Plan Element, which states: "Georgetown has a positive, identifiable image and an
attractive appearance" and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not
inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03
of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The Urban Design Task Force (hereinafter known as the Task Force)
is hereby charged with developing, with the assistance of J.D. Wilson and Associates, a
proposal for modification of the Subdivision Regulations and the Sign Ordinance to provide
standards related to specific urban design policies contained in the Century Plan Urban
Design Plan Element.

SECTION 3. The attached Exhibit A contains the Urban Design Plan policies that
the Task Force is to review and consider and direction on some specific elements of those
policies. The Task Force shall present their recommendations to the City Council for their
consideration according to a schedule agreed upon by the Council.
SECTION 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign on behalf of the City Council
of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 5. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
