A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FEE SCHEDULE FOR ANIMAL SERVICES AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, over four hundred pets are killed every year in the Georgetown Animal Shelter, due mainly to pet overpopulation in our City; and, WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to alleviate this overpopulation of pets in Georgetown; and, WHEREAS, charging a higher fee for the licensing of a pet that is unaltered and able to reproduce, adding to the overpopulation pressures, will provide an incentive to have cats and dogs spayed or neutered; and, WHEREAS, with no County animal shelter facility in Georgetown, the City Animal Shelter's services are in high demand from non - Georgetown residents; and, WHEREAS, non- Georgetown residents do not contribute directly to the funding of the City Animal Shelter through property taxes; and WHEREAS, Animal Services recommends that non- Georgetown residents be allowed to surrender pets to the Georgetown Animal Shelter if they pay a fee; and WHEREAS, the City Council therefore desires to amend the fee schedule established for animal services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are hereby incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Century Plan Focus End #8.03, which states, "Citizens are safe from animal threat" and Century Plan Focus End #8.03.01, which states, "The City provides humane animal accommodations," and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Resolution No. f Amendment to Animal Services Fee Schedule Page 1 of 2 Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. The City Council amends Exhibit A, entitled Animal Services Department - Fee Schedule, Effective March, 1995, changing the fee for licensing an unaltered animal from $5.00 to 15.00. SECTION 3. The City Council amends Exhibit A, entitled Animal Services Department - Fee Schedule, Effective March, 1995, adding to the section entitled Shelter Fees, a Shelter Turn-in Fee for Non-Residents of Georgetown, Per Animal........... $25.00.
