A. Consideration of recommendations to make to the Arts and Culture Board about the
scoring process for future Requests for Proposals for public art pro .jects .
Charles presented the explanation of the Texas Music Educators Association
(TMEA) audition process and the "Olympic" scoring system that TMEA uses. He
and Ruth agreed that this would be preferable to the system used to evaluate the
proposals submitted for the murals in the children's room at the library. The
explanation of Olympic scoring is attached and made a part of these minutes.
Charles and Ruth agreed that there should be a minimum of five to seven persons
on the public art panels, with a chair who might not vote. They also agreed that an
electronic spreadsheet should be used during the scoring meeting to eliminate
possibilities of mathematical errors. Charles will determine if we might adapt the
one used by TMEA.
Respectfully submitted,
Judy Fabry
Acting Secretary
