MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD MTG. MINUTES
8:30 A.M. – FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2013
WILLIAMSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 710 S. MAIN ST.
2ND FLOOR NORTH CONFERENCE ROOM, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
Board Members Present: Amanda Parr, Marcy Urban, David Kellerman and
Jim Wilson
Board Members Absent: Cindy Harrington, Julie Laderach and Linda
McCalla
Guests Present: Dean Eddy, 503 S. Main St.; Cary Rabb, 124 E. 8th
St.
City Staff Present: Shelly Hargrove, Main Street manager; Laurie
Brewer, assistant city manager
1. The meeting was called to order at 8:35 a.m. by Board Chair David Kellerman.
2. Amanda moved to approve the June 14th board meeting minutes, Jim seconded.
All board members present approved (4-0).
3. Guest Dean Eddy with 503 S. Main Street is applying for a façade ($6,845) and
sign ($500) grants totaling $7,345 to replace rotten wood, add trim to front
windows and repaint building and yard sign. He was very impressed with Sarah
Blankenship’s free design renderings. Amanda moved to approve the $7,345
façade and sign grants, Jim seconded. All board members present approved (4-0).
Guest Cary Rabb with 124 E. 8th St. (former Nonna’s Cucina location) is applying
for a $10,000 façade grant to repair the rotted wood and pressed metal on the
façade and replace the fabric awning with a wooden canopy. He goes to HARC
for design approval on July 25. Amanda moved to approve funding of the façade
grant for $10,000 contingent upon HARC approval, Marcy seconded. All board
members present approved (4-0).
4. Laurie gave HARC update that Little Caesar’s building permits approved so they
should be finished with construction within 120 days. Next HARC meeting
agenda will have Monument Café for a bandstand and ATM. Little Loft in The
Exchange received sign approval. Construction of the art center splash pad
should begin next week and take 6 weeks. Art center’s wooden windows
restored, live termites were found in building, interior paint colors have been

selected and storefront should go in over the next two weeks. Grand opening is
set for September. City council approved CIP to repair sidewalks, and city is
working with county to resurface the parking lot at MLK and 8th Street by also
demolishing some of the blue storage units west of alley. Lynette Wallace with
Art in the Square is talking about adding wine to the art fest which will be the
last weekend in October. Any revenue from ticket sales go to the art center.
Dimmitt building has put framework in building for elevator.
5. Committee Reports:
a. Promotion: Jim reported that the first Main Street Star Award will go to
Chet Garner at next week’s Downtown Low Down meeting. Chrystle Swain
is on board as Swirl fundraiser. Janice Jacoby is heading up a new fall
fundraising event called Ladies Nite Out from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday,
November 21 to help kick off the holiday shopping season. Goodie bags will
pre-sell for $10 each. The recommended Swirl honorary event chairs are
Marissa and Joe Austin, Cindy and Trisha are going to confirm soon. Taking
sign grant photos with ReImagine and Avalon Monuments.
b. Organization: David reported that committee met on Monday and the
calendar photo shoots have started with Elizabeth Lockhart of Southern
Hippie. New website revamp is still in process.
c. Economic Restructuring: Marcy reported that the next Breakfast Bites on
August 21 will be a panel of young, entrepreneurial women including Carly,
Becca, Elizabeth, Kimi and Brooklyn and will be marketed by a video
through Matt Graves. Southwestern University pep rallies and
homecoming parade will have a few street closures, they are inviting
benefactors to the parade; meeting next week about Pirate Bucks which is in
transition. Abbey’s Home Furnishings building should be available for lease
by end of September. Talking about committee visiting Granbury in
October.
d. Design: Amanda reported that the museum bank building will be this
year’s ornament. Call for Main Street mural art deadlines pushed back until
mural contract with Eric Visser gets signed. Laurie mentioned a discussion
about a possible 10-year easement, Eric was very positive in meeting.
Revisions are taking place on holiday lighting and uplighting for courthouse
lawn.
6. Shelly gave staff report that ThunderCloud Subs has opened with steady
pedestrian traffic, Kay Briggs is opening Pink Poppy Artisans Boutique in
August, Monument Café should be listed in Texas Monthly’s September issue,
and Downtown Low Down meeting is next Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. at
Roots Bistro.

7. Marcy requested the status of holiday lighting fundraising on next agenda, and
David requested the current balance of the Façade Fund. The meeting adjourned
at 9:56 a.m.
