A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR A
GRANT FOR A YOUTH LIAISON OFFICER, FUNDED BY THE CRIMINAL
JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE
STATE OF TEXAS; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown Division of Police Services is committed to
serving the children and youth of Georgetown through education, prevention, intervention
and treatment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown Division of Police Services has formed the
"Youth Services Team" to focus on the needs of juveniles in the community to keep them
from becoming victims and/or perpetrators of crime; and
WHEREAS, a Youth Liaison Officer would serve seventh grade students in the
Georgetown Independent School District, educating them about gangs, drugs, and
violence, and how to avoid them, as well as serving as a mentor/role model for these
students.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution
are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference
herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby
finds that this resolution implements the following policy or policies of the Century Plan -
Policy Plan Element:
1. Facilities and Services Policy End 4.0, which states: "The City provides for
the safety of its citizens and supports the responsive delivery of coordinated
services by the City and other public agencies."
2. Finance Policy End 5.0, which states: "All municipal operations are
conducted in an efficient business -like manner and sufficient financial
resources for both short-term and long-term needs are provided."
SECTION 2. The City Council of the the City of Georgetown, Texas, understanding
that the loss or misuse of grant funds by the City of Georgetown will result in the full
reimbursement of funds by the City of Georgetown to the Criminal Justice Division, Office
of the Governor of the State of Texas, does hereby authorize the application for a grant in
the amount of $37,937.00 for a Youth Liaison officer, which would educate Georgetown

Independent School District seventh graders about gangs, drugs and violence, and serve
as a mentor and role model for middle school students.
SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to
attest thereto this resolution on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
