A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR A
GRANT FOR A YOUTH LIAISON OFFICER, FUNDED BY THE CRIMINAL
JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE
STATE OF TEXAS; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown Division of Police Services is committed to
serving the citizens of Georgetown to protect them from crime, and to ensure that the level
of fear of crime is at a minimum; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown Division of Police Services has formed the
Narcotics Unit to focus on areas of high drug activity in the community, and to protect the
citizens and community from victimization of crime, as well as to curb juvenile crime by
focusing on drug activity in the schools; and
WHEREAS, a grant to help support the Narcotics Unit will enable the City of
Georgetown to effectively handle the drug problems in the City by purchasing up-to-date
equipment and advanced technology, as well as ensure the utmost safety of its officers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution
are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference
herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby
finds that this resolution implements the following policy or policies of the Century Plan -
Policy Plan Element:
1. Facilities and Services Policy End 4.0, which states: "The City provides for
the safety of its citizens and supports the responsive delivery of coordinated
services by the City and other public agencies."
2. Finance Policy End 5.0, which states: "All municipal operations are
conducted in an efficient business -like manner and sufficient financial
resources for both short-term and long-term needs are provided."
SECTION 2. The City Council of the the City of Georgetown, Texas, understanding
that the loss or misuse of grant funds by the City of Georgetown will result in the full
reimbursement of funds by the City of Georgetown to the Criminal Justice Division, Office
of the Governor of the State of Texas, does hereby authorize the application for a grant
in the amount of $3,092.00 for Narcotics Enforcement, which would target the drug

problem in Georgetown, and reduce the levels of fear and perceived threat of crime in
citizens of Georgetown.
SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to
attest thereto this resolution on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
