HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 980825-W - Contract LCRA GrantRESOLUTION No. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARTICIPATING IN AN INTERLOCAL COOPERATION CONTRACT FOR $200,000 TO HELP CONSTRUCT THE SAN GABRIEL RIVER PARK III ALONG THE NORTH SAN GABRIEL RIVER AND THE SOFTBALL COMPLEX AT THE MIKE MCMASTER FIELDS WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to be used with local matching funds for San Gabriel River Park III and the construction of the softball complex at Mike McMaster Fields; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) Act and Article 717p of the Texas Revised Civil Statutes, and as set forth in LCRA's 10 -Year Vision for the Colorado River Trail and Partnership in Parks, LCRA has agreed to provide financial assistance in the amount of $200,000 to be used as part of the needed matching funds; and WHEREAS, the City desires to complete the San Gabriel River Park III and Softball Complex Project and will act as project manager and administrator of the grant. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the following policies of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element: 1. Environmental and Resource Conservation Policy End 3.0, which states: "The physical qualities that make Georgetown attractive are protected." 2. Recreation and Cultural Affairs Policy End 11.0, which states: "All citizens actively participate in community -wide social, cultural, and recreational activities." SECTION 2. The City seeks to further develop the Hike and Bike Trail along the North San Gabriel River and construct the softball complex at Mike McMaster Fields, and is grateful to the LCRA for the $200,000 grant to use as local matching funds for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant. The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager as the designated authority for the administration and development of the Project and agrees that LCRA's financial contribution shall be used solely for the purpose of constructing improvements associated with the Project as outlined in the TPWD Agreement. SECTION 4. The City will comply with all terms of the TPWD Agreement and shall meet all on-going requirements of the Grant as included in the Interlocal Cooperation Contract with LCRA. SECTION 5. The resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
