HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 981110-R - Lease Airport & Land DevRESOLUTION NO. g8i1/d _11-5' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A LONG-TERM AIRPORT LAND LEASE WITH CHAD AIRPORT AND LAND DEVELOPMENT COMPANY FOR THE AIRPORT SITE KNOWN AS THE SOUTHEAST CORPORATE RAMP WHEREAS, Chad Airport and Land Development Company did present a proposal to the Airport Advisory Board on September 21, 1998, to lease the Southeast Corporate Ramp site in order to construct new hangar facilities; and, WHEREAS, the Airport Advisory Board voted unanimously to recommend that the Council authorize the staff to negotiate a long-term Airport land lease with Chad Airport and land Development Company for the development of the site; and, WHEREAS, this development is important to the Council's goal to keeping the Airport Fund self sufficient; and, WHEREAS, this development is consistent with the Airport Functional Plan Element approved by the Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are hereby incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Facilities & Services Policy #1 of the Century Plan - Policy Element, which states in Goal E, "As a key factor in the economic growth of the community, the City should assure safe and adequate basic aviation services to the community by developing the airport to its fullest potential"; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby directed to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto on behalf of the City of Georgetown, the Airport lease agreement.
