HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 981208-O - Airport Lease Curry AviationRESOLUTION NO. og— 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A LONG- TERM AIRPORT LAND LEASE WITH CURREY AVIATION SERVICES, INC. FOR APPROXIMATELY FOUR (4) ACRES OF AIRPORT PROPERTY, AUTHORIZING THE CITY SECRETARY TO ATTEST THERETO, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Robert B. Currey and Associates, Inc. did present a proposal to the Airport Advisory Board on October 26, 1998, to lease four (4) acres at the southwest corner of Airport Road and Terminal Drive in order to construct new aircraft hangar and office facilities; and WHEREAS, the Council authorized staff to negotiate a long-term land lease with Mr. Currey at the November 10, 1998 Council meeting; and WHEREAS, the Airport Advisory Board voted unanimously to recommend that Council approve the negotiated lease at the November 23, 1998 Board meeting; and WHEREAS, this development is important to the Council's goal of keeping the Airport self-sufficient; and WHEREAS, this development is consistent with the Airport Functional Plan Element approved by the Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Facilities and Services Policy End 1.0 of the Century Plan Policy Plan Element, which states, "The City will endeavor to increase the quality of life through the upgrading of existing facilities and services and the provision of new services to meet the specific needs of the community," and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the lease, and the City Secretary to attest thereto. SECTION 3.
