A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, DECLARING THE MUNICIPALITY OF
CHITUNGWIZA AS A SISTER CITY TO GEORGETOWN.
WHEREAS, through information technology the world is becoming increasingly smaller;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown and the Municipality of Chitungwiza have many
common issues; and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Manager, Bob Hart, has met with officials from
Chitungwiza, including Mayor T. N. Chimedza and Director of Engineering Services M. Khosla;
and
WHEREAS, these issues include the fact that both communities are outside of capitol cities,
are undergoing rapid growth, have a need to maintain community identity, create jobs for local
residents, and provide infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, through a relationship it is possible to share governmental expertise, cultural
exchange, and sporting opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
resolution implements the following policy or policies of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element:
Governmental Affairs Policy End 6.0, which states: "A high level of
cooperation and involvement exists among Georgetown's citizens and
governmental organizations."
SECTION 2. The Municipality of Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe is hereby declared to be a Sister
City of the City of Georgetown, Texas, United States of America, and the exchange of ideas,
information, and good will is encouraged among all residents of Georgetown.

SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest
thereto this resolution on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
