WHEREAS,there will be held a Special Election on January 20, 1996, to fill the unexpired
term of the Councilmember for City of Georgetown Single -Member District 2; and
WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas provide that the governing body of a political
subdivision other than a county shall appoint the election judges; and that appointment shall be made
by written order; and
WHEREAS, certain eligibility requirements must be met by the persons appointed to serve
as election judges.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL

SECTION 1
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and
declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part
hereof, as if copied verbatim.
SECTION 2
The City Council has found that this action implements Governmental Affairs Policy 2 of
the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "All citizens actively participate in
governmental functions."; and has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict with any
other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy
Plan;
SECTION 3
Having met the eligibility requirements, the following persons have been found to be
qualified to serve as Election Judges in the January 20, 1996, Special Election. Serving as Precinct
Judge for the only voting -day precinct for this election, that being City of Georgetown Voting
Precinct "A" at the Georgetown Public Library, will be Mrs. Mary Herrera. Serving as Alternate
Presiding Judge will be Mrs. Mary Giesecke. The clerks for the Election shall be chosen by the
judges.

Ballots from Early Voting shall be canvassed by an Early Voting Ballot Board. Ms. Mary
Herrera shall serve as Presiding Judge and Mrs. Mary Giesecke shall serve as Alternate Presiding
Judge of the Early Voting Ballot Board for the Special Election.
SECTION 4
Election officials shall be compensated at a rate of $6.00 per hour. Officials who deliver the
ballots and election supplies shall be compensated an additional flat fee of $25.00 over the hourly
rate for their service.
SECTION 5
This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
