HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 961112-S - TDHCA Housing Demo FundRESOLUTION NO.910//%2 -S' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR THE HOUSING DEMONSTRATION FUND; AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACT AS THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown desires to develop decent housing and a suitable living environment for persons of low/moderate income; and WHEREAS, there is a documented need for affordable housing for low to moderate income families, and, WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interests of the City of Georgetown to apply for funding under the Texas Community Development Program Housing Demonstration Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the following policy of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element: 1. Growth and Physical Development Policy End 7.0, which states: "Georgetown's land uses support economic, cultural and social activities for all residents, businesses and organizations; and the City's development process encourages new and infill development." 2. Housing Policy End 10.0, which states: "The City cooperates with builders, developers and property owners to provide safe and adequate housing opportunities for all citizens." A Texas Community Development Program application for the Housing Demonstration Fund is authorized to be filed on behalf of the City with the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. SE-CUON 3. The City's application shall be placed into competition for funding under the Housing Demonstration Fund. SECTION 4. The application shall be for $500,000 of grant funds to fund water/sewer/street and drainage improvements, project engineering and project administration. SECTION 5. The City Council directs and designates the Mayor as the City's Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this application and the City's participation in the Texas Community Development Program. SEC 1710N6. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto this resolution. SECTION 7. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
