WHEREAS, the Transportation Element of the Georgetown Century Plan - Developmell
Plan Functional Plan identifies Williams Drive (RM2338) as a major capacity problem
Georgetown's existing thoroughfare network; and I
WHEREAS, the Northwest Quadrant Traffic Impact Analysis, which projects t1a
transportation needs for the northwest quadrant of the City of Georgetown, indicates th
increased traffic on Williams Drive will result from future development; and i
WHEREAS, Northwest Boulevard from Serenada Drive to the IH35 frontage road is
identified as an alternative route for Williams Drive traffic; and
WHEREAS, the existing location of the entrance ramp to IH35 south from the southbound
frontage road between Lakeway Drive and Williams Drive is not accessible to traffic traveling
south on the frontage road from Northwest Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, relocating the entrance ramp to allow traffic traveling south on the fronta
road from Northwest Boulevard to enter IH35 south without passing through the frontage road
intersection with Williams Drive would enhance the value of Northwest Boulevard as
,21ternative route to Williams Drive; and I
WHEREAS, relocating the entrance ramp could be achieved by exchanging the locations
of the existing entrance ramp and the existing exit ramp;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THI
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein al

expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
resolution implements the following policies of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element:
1. Transportation Policy 1, which states: "The City will encourage a transportation
system that provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the
economic interests of the community, and adequately serves the personal needs of
individuals; and
2. Governmental Affairs Policy 1, which states: "The City cooperates with all other
entities which provide services in the community";
and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any
other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the
Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby requests that the District 14 of the Texas
Department of Transportation take the actions necessary to relocate the entrance ramp to IH35
south from the southbound frontage road between Lakeway Drive and Williams Drive in
Georgetown, in order to allow traffic traveling south on the frontage road from Northwest
Boulevard to enter IH35 south without passing through the frontage road's intersection with
Williams Drive.
