third stage and food court area, some new vendors, 1,400 Red Poppy bike racers were signed up and
there would be a shuttle between downtown and the old Albertson’s location. She also gave an
overview of the tourism study by Mind Ecology of Top Prospective Visitors to Georgetown which fall
under three main categories: Successful Mid-Lifers, Accumulating Families and Traditional Matures.
Since Georgetown zip code is listed #1 in the state for Traditional Matures, our recommended focus will
be on attracting more of the other two categories so much of advertising will go to online. Also a
suggestion of the tourism study results and possibly a city-wide marketing team at the next Breakfast

Shelly mentioned the annual downtown stakeholder survey results as well as info on the Texas Main
Street Program visit to Georgetown with the new Assistant State Coordinator Rebekka. Sweet Lemon

design review works if any Main Street Advisory Board members want to attend. The Community
Impact Summit is next week at the Dell Diamond and Laurie, Jack, Jennifer and Shelly are attending.
There will be a board chairs luncheon on April 30 and the new art exhibit with Don Snell’s work opens
on First Friday, May 2.
6. Committee Reports:
a. Design: Julie reported that mural art judging took place last night with 39 art entries. An original
piece of art called “The Square” was chosen even though there was a small concern about the
lighter colors having a glare with the mural facing south. Matt suggested we print some proof
sheets to test the coloring. The mural unveiling party will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on May 29. The old
jail will be the 2014 ornament subject.
b. Economic Restructuring: Jim and Marcy reported that the X Games Austin topic for the last
Breakfast Bites attracted some new attendees that had never been before. A Filemaker Pro
database called Downtown Diva is recommended as a budget request. Discussion of a cash mob
two times a year. Highlights from the downtown Granbury trip include artist Stacey Watkins and
her gallery, lodging in downtown, but they don’t have a strong relationship between the city and
the merchant group. Southwestern University had about 60 people in attendance at the mayoral
debate, and a Shark Tank panel will take place at SU. Also the Pirate Buc$ card is going back to
Sodexho for their review to upgrade. May 18 is a new downtown event called Vet-a-palooza with
lots of bands and food. Southwestern presidential inauguration and Shilling lecture went great.
Façade grant photos were taken for Sweet Lemon Inn and this Saturday is their open house. April
23 is the next luncheon date at 600 Degrees Pizzeria & Drafthouse.
c. Promotions: Cindy reported over $19,000 was made at this year’s Georgetown Swirl with the
goal being $15,000. The committee’s goal is to focus on two main events each year and adding
light pole banners for our annual special events like Ladies Nite Out and Georgetown Swirl to
help with marketing. Toast of the Town Awards will be given out at The Hollow on April 22 for
the Swirl wrap volunteer/sponsor reception.
d. Organization: David discussed the possibility of a new fundraiser to take the calendar’s place
such as the Main Table dinner in Ft. Worth with a long harvest table down Main Street on a
Sunday evening and working with downtown restaurants to supply food. Also an idea discussed
was a picnic on the courthouse lawn.
6. David adjourned the meeting at 10:18 a.m.
Respectfully submitted:
