3. Matt Synatschk gave the monthly HARC report. The August 28th meeting has one case. The 9th Street
project is still in progress, in conjunction with the 8th Street/Tin Barn Alley project. The County
approved the interlocal agreement to construct a parking lot at MLK and 8th. City Council will approve
the agreement on Tuesday. The process to expand the Downtown Overlay District is still underway,
and rezoning of properties within the district will occur tentatively in October. Finally, HARC’s First
Friday reception was successful, with around 100 attendees.
4. Committee Reports:
a. Promotion: Cindy reported that the official theme for Ladies Nite Out is A Winter White Nite.
The committee is also developing an opportunity for business owners to sign-up for design
assistance with local artisans to help decorate their windows for the holidays. This program is
still being developed, and the committee is tentatively collaborating with the Design Committee.
The committee discussed the consolidated holiday form. The plan is to release the form at the
next Breakfast Bites. David asked that the board look at putting lights in vacant storefronts
The committee also discussed the Main Street Star Award. New criteria have been developed.
Cindy moved to accept the new criteria as presented, Marcy seconded. All board members
present approved (5-0).
David then brought back the motion from the July 13th board meeting. Previously, Vicki moved

b. Economic Restructuring: Julie reported that the new business brochure is still being updated
and streamlined. Jim reported that Breakfast Bites will be on September 17th and will feature
craft brewing and spirits. Tentatively the panel will be made up of four to five representatives
from that field. The board asked that the event be advertised beyond Georgetown as well.
The committee is planning a progressive cash mob for November 29th in conjunction with Small
Business Saturday. The hope is to visit several stores that are members of both the Downtown
Georgetown Association and the Chamber of Commerce.
The next Main Street luncheon will be August 18th at Tony and Luigi’s. The board is still
planning on visiting Denton October 24th – 25th. The next College Town Committee is on August
27th. Several new businesses are coming to the Square, including Eats on 8th, La Bella Casa and
Brazos Avenue Market. Finally, the committee is working on Sunday Funday events, including
having musicians perform at the art center and Galaxy Bakery. Cindy offered the knoll at
Monument Market.
c. Design: David reported on the new Christmas ornament. It will feature the old county jail and
an antique police car. Progress is being made on the 8th Street Courtyard. Currently, staff is
researching the effect the courtyard will have on outdoor smoking. Staff is also continuing
discussions with the remaining adjacent property owners.
Julie reported on uniform storefront signage for vacant buildings. The committee is working on
identifying the storefronts and property owners who could utilize the signage. The committee is
also working on coordinating realtor training focused on selling historic properties. The utility
box screening project is still underway, and alternatives to wrapping are being developed.
Finally, procedures are being amended so that the Main Street Advisory Board does not issue
façade grants to applicants unless they have already received HARC design approval for their
projects.
d. Organization: David reported that the board submitted a proposal for the Chisholm Trail
Communities Foundation Fast Pitch grant. The Main Street website will have the board’s
annual action plan and most wanted businesses added to it. The museum has already planned
on doing a picnic basket fundraiser in the spring, so the committee is working on new
fundraising ideas. The committee is also working on recruiting representatives from all
downtown organizations.
Finally, David asked that the committee chairs ensure they delegate what they can and hold
committee members accountable. Committees do not have to do everything and committee
chairs should feel comfortable staying with the annual action plan.
6. Staff Report: Shelly reported September will emphasize Sunday Funday. Businesses are asked to open
from 1– 4 p.m. on Sundays in September. There will be different events each weekend, starting with
Grandparents Day, then yarn bombing, the Dan Moody documentary premier, and concluding with
Art and Wine on the Square. Main Street is looking for live music during these events. The hope is that
the success of these events will drive retailers to stay open on Sundays throughout the holiday season.
The Best of Georgetown, TX contest will kick-off starting September 1st and will conclude September
30th. Winners will be announced on First Friday on November 7th. The Austin Monthly editor will be
visiting Georgetown, and Music on the Square will continue through August. Shelly is on vacation
August 25th – 29th.
7. The next meeting will be on September 12th. David adjourned the meeting at 10:04 a.m.
