The mission of the Georgetown Convention and Visitors Bureau is to:
Encourage the community's economic success through promotion of Georgetown as a tourist destination.
Preserve, promote and enhance the cultural heritage and unique character of the community.
Attract visitors to maximize the financial impact of tourism on the community.
The Convention & Visitor Bureau Board met on Friday, August 22 at 8:30 am at Convention and
Visitors Bureau Office, located at 103 W. 7 th Street, Georgetown, Texas.
Members Present: Don McCullough, Karen Soeffker, Steven Harris, Ray Dolton,
Christy Fisher

2. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the July 11, 2014 minutes
Motion by Harris, second by Fisher to approve minutes from the July 11, 2014 meeting.
Approved 5-0
3. Hotel Occupancy Tax Reimbursement Grant Applicant Presentations
Eight applications were presented for review. Roger Kidwell, representing the GHS
Soccer Booster Club and the GHS Governor's Cup, briefed these two events. Miller
briefed the remaining six applications.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding Hotel Occupancy Tax Reimbursement Grant

• GHS Soccer Booster Club UIL State Soccer Tournament - $2,000
• Cyclocross Project 2015 - $2,000
• jack Frost Invitational Basketball Tournament - $750
• Texas Half Century Club Softball Tournament - $3,000
• East View Softball Booster Club - $1,500
• American Junior Golf Association

Motion by Fisher, second by Harris to approve the recommended grants totaling
$13,250.
5. Discussion and possible action regarding 2014-15 CVB Marketing Plan
The Texas Monthly print/digital marketing proposal was reviewed. After discussion
the following motion was made.
Motion by Harris, second by Fisher to contract with Texas Monthly for print ads
(October 2014, December 2014, March 2015, May 2015) and monthly digital ads
totaling $16,608.

outlining the recommended changes to the Festival. Recommended changes

Miller briefed the Board as to the importance/necessity of trademarking the Red
Poppy Festival logo. After discussion the following motion was made.
