WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Council wishes to allow the Texas Department of
Transportation some latitude in determining the final route in order to identify the most
economical choice in terms of topography and river crossings; and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Council prefers the route as described in Section 2 of
this Resolution, but is respectful • the Department of Transportation maldng the final selection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TBE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
resolution implements Transportation Policy 1 • the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which
states: "The City will encourage a transportation system that provides for the safe and efficient
movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and adequately serves
the personal needs of 'individuals"; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not
inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of
the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The preferred route to be utihzed for the Mokan Roadway/Proposed State
Highway 130 is a route alignment connecting to the existing State Highway 195 and Interstate

five miles of the intersection of Business 35 • Avenue) and State Highway 29.

SECTION4. In designing and constructing the Mokan Roadway/Proposed State Highway
130 all effort should be made to provide for rail use of the right-of-way to allow for th&
movement of passengers and goods.
SECTION - 5. This resolution shall be forwarded to the Texas Department of
Transportation and its consulting engineering firm.
SECTION 6. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest
thereto on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
