HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 930098 - TPWD Agmt Protect LandRESOLUTION No. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF I• GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN IN DEALING WITH THE TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARTICIPATING IN THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND ACT OF 1965; CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN WILL PRESERVE 11.22 ACRES OF DONATED LAND OFF MORROW STREET PROPERTY FOR OPEN SPACE, MAINTAIN THE LAND AS OPEN SPACE AND DEDICATE ALL 11.22 ACRES AS PARKLAND FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION USE IN PERPETUITY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown is desirous of using the 11.22 acres of land on the Morrow Street to preserve open space, maintain the land as open space and tedicate as parkland for outdoor recreation use in perpetuity; and WHEREAS, the donated land is being held through the Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation until needed for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown adopted Ordinance No. 92-7 Century Plan - Parks and Recreation Functional Plan on April 28, 1992 which implements the plan for Open Space and Greenbelts; and I WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown is desirous of authorizing its zdministration staff to add this 11.22 acres of donated open space off Morrow Street to e an Gabriel River Park II grant application. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference heremi and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Recreation and Cultural Affairs Policy 2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element , which states, "the City will assist in providing all its citizens the opportunity to participate in recreational and cultural programs"; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not River Quarters Grant Resolution No.f—t Page I of 2 February 9, 1993 pkland inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
