A RESOLUTION ORDERING A GENERAL ELECTIOA—�T
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS TO BE HELD ON MAY 1, 1993, AND
ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR SAID ELECTION.
WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Georgetowil
Texas provide that on May 1, 1993, there shall be elected the following officials for this Citi
Four (4) Members of the Council: Districts 1, 3, 4, and 5:
WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Georgetown,
Texas further provide that the Election Code of the State of Texas is applicable to said election,
and in order to comply with said Code, a Resolution should be passed establishing the procedure
to be followed in said election, and designating the voting places for said election.

The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and
declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a
part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
The City Council has found that this action implements Economic Development Policy
I of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "The City will encourage diversified
growth and promote business opportunities to create jobs, broaden the tax base and minimize the
impact of economic fluctuations"; and has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict
with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter
of the Policy Plan;

All candidates for the election to be held on the first Sunday in May, 1993, for the above-
mentioned positions shall file their applications to become candidates with the City Secretary at
the City Hall, 609 Main Street, Georgetown, Texas, on or before 5:00 p.m. on the forty-fifth day
before the election, such date being March 17, 1993, and that all of said applications shall be on
a form as prescribed by Section 141.031 of the Election Code of the State of Texas.

The order in which the names of the candidates are to be printed on the ballot shall
,ietermined by a drawing by the City Secretary on March 18, 1993, at 9-00 a.m. in the Ci
Council Chamber located at 101 E. 7th Street, Georgetown,

Voting shall be conducted with paper ballots prepared in conformity with the Texas
Election Code.
Early voting by personal appearance shall take place at City Hall, 609 Main St.,
Georgetown, Texas.
Elizabeth Gray is hereby appointed Clerk for Early Voting. SandraDonna Rogers
[-Togg, Stephanie Crenshaw, Marianne Landers Banks and Bob Hart are hereby appointed deputy
early voting clerks.
The early voting for the above -designated election will be held at City Hall, 609 Main
Street, Georgetown, Texas, and will remain open during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m.) each day specified for early voting, which is not a Saturday, a Sunday, or an official state
holiday, beginning on the 20th day preceding the date of the election, which is April 12, 1993,
and continuing through the 4th day preceding the date of the election, which is April 27, 1993.
Early voting shall also be conducted on Saturday, April 17, 1993, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m. and Saturday, April 24, 1993, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
All early voting shall be canvassed by an Early Voting Ballot Board. Maria Herrera shall
serve as Presiding Judge and Mary Gieseke as Alternate Presiding Judge.
Election day voting shall take place at Polling Place "A", Georgetown Public Library, 808
Martin Luther King Blvd. for voters residing in City single member districts 1 and 3, and at
Polling Place "B", at the Georgetown Independent School District Tax Office, 603 Lakeway
Drive, for voters residing in City single member districts 4 and 5.
The following persons are hereby appointed as election officials for said election:
In Polling Place "A": Maria Herrera will serve as Presiding Judge, Mary Gieseke
will serve as Alternate Presiding Judge, and the clerks for the election will be
appointed by the Presiding Judge in a number not to exceed five (5) clerks.

In Polling Place "B": Ken Jones will serve as Presiding Judge, Kathleen Leedy
will serve as Alternate Presiding Judge, and the clerks for the election wi•e
appointed by the Presiding Judge in a number not to exceed five (5) clerks.
Election officials shall be compensated at a rate of $5.00 per hour, and officials wis
�ieliver the ballots and election supplies shall be compensated an additional flat fee of $25AT
*ver the hourly rate for their service.
The City Secretary shall conduct an unofficial tabulation of results after the closing of the
polls. The official canvass and tabulation of the results of the election shall be conducted by the
City Council at a Special Session on May 4, 1993.
This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
RESOLVED this 23rd day of February, 1993.
