WHEREAS, Del Webb has indicated its interest in developing a Sun City Active Adult
Community in Georgetown; and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown Community recognizes the significance of this proposed
fevelopment for our area; and
WHEREAS, Georgetown Community leaders have actively investigated the effects such
development will have for Georgetown through field visits to other Sun City projects throughout
the United States by meeting with representatives of Del Webb and Sun City residents as well
as City officials, County representatives, school board members, hospital administrators,
Chamber of Commerce representatives and Utility providers in the host communities of other
Sun City projects; and
WHEREAS, the findings of these site visits have revealed Del Webb to be a very
professional and high quality organization that provides a superior product that would prove to
be an enhancement to the City of Georgetown and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Sun City for Georgetown, Texas would prove to be a community asset
for the City of Georgetown.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the following 'Policies of
the Century Plan - Policy Plan:
1. Growth and Physical Development Policy 1, which states "The City will ensure
that future land use patterns provide economic, cultural, and social activities to
all residents, businesses and organizations" - and
2. Growth and Physical Development Policy 5, which states "The City will
encourage new development and infill redevelopment in the community"; and

3. Housing Policy 1, which states "The City, builders, developers, and property
owners provide safe and adequate housing opportunities for all household types".
The City Council further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or
in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the
Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The Georgetown Community wants to welcome Del Webb to our

Del Webb is stron ly encouraged to proceed with development of a Sun City in Georgetown and
the City Council pledges its support in cooperating with Del Webb and its representatives to
satisfy the needs of both Del Webb and the Georgetown Community to the mutual benefit of
both parties.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
