WHEREAS, the 72nd Texas Legislature passed SB 1340, which establishes a
goal of reoveling 401 of the municipal solid waste stream by 1994; and,
WMUZRAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, finds that
offering multiple recycling programs are effective ways to meet the 1994 goal;
and,
MiEREAS, recycling brush that has been chipped back to citizens for reuse
in yards and gardens is a benefit to the environment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, THAT:
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated
reference heroin and expressly made a part hereof as if copied verbatim.
City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Utility/Energy Poli
No. 5 of the Century Plan Policy Plan Element, which states, "The City wi
provide water, wastewater, electricity, and solid waste collection services whi
meet the immediate and future needs of all citizens and which encourages

provides for economic development", and further finds that the adoption of thl
resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Pl
policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Poli
Plan.
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and the City Secretary to attest
thereto to this resolution which authorizes the implementation of -the wood chip
recycling program at the Georgetown Public Collection Station, at no cost to
citizens and additionally waives charges on brush brought to the Collection
Station by City of Georgetown residential sanitation customers.
