WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, finds that tm
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board has recommended that J. T. Duncan & Associat-43
4e named as the consulting firm to develop a comprehensive master plan for tm
San Gabriel River Corridor and submit a grant application, on behalf of the CitA

to the Texas Parks & wildlife Department; and, E
WHEREAS, the City, in its Century Plan - Policy Plan, has found that the
City should provide its citizens with neighborhood and community parks and
facilities will make available to all individuals, families and groups, the
enjoyment of the outdoors and recreation; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the development of the Blue Hole, San
Gabriel River, and adjacent areas with walks, picnic facilities, canoeing,
swimming, and other activities improves the quality of life for the citizens of
Georgetown.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the city council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas, that:
Section 1
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by
reference herein and expressly made a part hereof as if copied verbatim. The
City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Recreation and Cultural
Affairs Policy 2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, Goal B, which states,
"The City should provide its citizens with neighborhood and community parks and
facilities that will make available to all individuals, families, and groups
enjoyment of the outdoors and recreation". Short Rangel, which states, in part,
"The City will have a comprehensive parks plan to address the following:
Development of hiking, biking, and fitness trails; and, Development of Blue Hole,
San Gabriel River and adjacent area with walks, picnic facilities, canoeing,
swimming, and other activities"r and Short Range 2, which states, "The City will
develop recreational programs to capitalize on the San Gabriel River and Lake
Georgetown as great natural resources", and further finds that the adoption of
this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan
policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy
Plan.
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and the City Secretary to attest
thereto this resolution which authorizes J. T. Duncan & Associates to develop a
comprehensive master plan for the San Gabriel River Corridors and submit a grant
application to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, on behalf of the City.
