GEORGETOWN ■UTILITY OFFICE FOR PROVEN "CUSTOMER FIRST"
SKILLS.
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown City Council has established among its top prioritiM
the principal that the City's customers will be given "first" priority, and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown Chamber of Commerce in association with the
Texas Agricultural Extension Service, Texas A& M University System, conducted a consumer
4,pinion survey of Georgetown residents in June, 1990, and
WHEREAS, the survey sample was selected from all residential Georgetown utility
customers, and the excellent return of survey questionnaires resulted in a precision level of
5 %, and
WHEREAS, the survey questionnaire required several responses concerning residents
opinions of the operation of the City of Georgetown Utility Office, and
WHEREAS, 84% of respondents with an opinion agreed with the statement "Utili
Office employees are friendly and courteous", and i
WHEREAS, 87% of respondents with an opinion agreed with the statement "Utility
Office employees provide prompt, correct responses to your questions", and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Council recognizes that the customer s1dlls of the
Utility Office may be the most important of any office or department within the City since
almost fifty percent of all utility customers personally make payment each month to the Utility
Office during business hours, and

WHEREAS, the consumer opinion survey indicates that Utility Office employees
thought by most of their customers to provide excellent "customer first" service,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas, that -
The City of Georgetown City Council recognizes that the responsibility of the Utility
Office which includes billing and collection of electric, water, sewer and garbage services make
achieving the perception of "customer first" service extremely difficult among some utility
customers; and in spite of such difficulties, Utility Office employees received an excellent report
card from their customers through the opinion survey.
SECTION H.
The City of Georgetown City Council commends all employees of the Utility Office fim
