An AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND THE CITY
SECRETARY TO ATTEST.
WHEREAS, the City has been notified by the Interstate Commerce
Commission (ICC) that the above -captioned right-of-way is proposed to bt
abandoned f or rail service use by the Missouri -Pacific Railroad Company; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown desires to present its interest in said
right--of-way to be abandoned for interim trail use and rail banking pursuant
to 16 U. S. C. 1247(d) and 49 CFR 1152.29; and,
WHEREAS, the Century Plan Policy Plan Chapter on Historic Preservation
and Urban Design Policy 2 Goal F states that the City should initiate with the
County a county -wide system of bik-eways; and,
WHEREAS, the Georgetown Century Plan Development Plan Policy 15 Goal
A Long -Range Objective 2 indicates the desire of the City to establish
transitways along abandoned railroad right-of-ways.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY ON
GEORGETOWN,TEXAS:

The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated herein
as if set forth verbatim.

The Mayor is authorized to execute the Letter of Comment and Protest to the
ICC regarding the desire of the Missouri -Pacific Railroad Company to abandon
the railway between Georgetown and Granger.
The City Secretary is authorized to attest to this Resolution.
