PLAN UNDER THE 1990 CENSUS.
WHEREAS ' in 1988, the citizens of the City of Georgetown voted to convert City
elections from an at -large system to seven single -member districts, with a Mayor elected at -large-,
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown is required to review its voting district plan after
receipt of the 1990 census data;
WHEREAS, the United States Bureau of Census has determined that the 1990 census data
will be finalized by April 1, 1991;
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown recognizes that the signcant growth that occurred
between 1980 and 1990 has impacted the single member district plan under which the City
elections are currently being held, such that the city must redistrict before the May, 1992 City
election;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown has determined that, due to the
complexity of the redistricting process to employ a consultant to assist in the redistricting
process;
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommended consultant's proposal and
fetermined that it is in the best interest of the City of Georgetown to accept this proposal;
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Governmental Affai I
rolicy 2 of the Century Plan- Policy Plan Element, and is not found to be inconsistent or J
conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administratil
Chapter of the Policy Plan-,
NOW, THEREFORE� BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:

The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are and declared to
be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein as a part hereof, as if copied
verbatim.
The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign, and the City Secretary to attest, a contract witm
Texas Redistricting Services, Inc. to provide consulting services to the City of Georgetown
assist in the redistricting process under the 1990 census data. Said contract shall contain
provision that the amount to be expended under this contract shall not exceed $20,000.00, a
shall receive prior approval of the City Attorney. I
