WHEREAS, the City Council desires to improve facilities and safety at the
Georgetown Municipal Airport; and,
WHEREAS, the 900 -foot extension of Runway 36, the installation of deer -
proof fences, the relocation of Lakeway Drive, and the relocation of the electric
v
!ower lines are projects to achieve that desire; and,
WHEREAS, the City has applied for federal funds in the form of a grant from
the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); and,
WHEREAS, the FAA has offered the City a grant in the amount of
$1,120,000.00 to pay for 90% of the eligible costs of those projects,, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements the
Facilities and Services Policy I of the Century Plan Policy Plan Element, which
states in Goal E: "As a key factor in the economic growth of the community, the
City should assure safe and adequate basic aviation services to the community by
developing the airport to its fullest potential"; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action is not inconsistent
or in oonf lict with anv other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03
of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GITY WJNCIL OF THE CITY 0 1-e
GEORGETOWN, TEKAS, THAT:
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated
reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. I
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute , and the City Secretarn
to attest thereto a Grant'Agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration
behalf of the City of Georgetown. I
