RM2243 from Interstate Highway 35 to Business Interstate 35 in Georgetown as a major arterial
with the highest level of priority for improvement-,
WHEREAS, the completion of improvements to RM2243 (Leander Road) is crucial t,#.
furthering economic development and enhancing traffic circulation and safety;
WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Council held a public hearing on December 11, 1990,
to obtain public comment on the preliminary design plans prepared by the Texas Department of
Transportation for the improvements to RM2243;
WHEREAS, on January 8, 1991, the Georgetown City Council approved Resolution
#910014 approving the preliminary design plans;
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements the following Policies
of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element,
Facilities and Services Policy I which states: "The City will endeavor to increase

inf existing facilities anservices anthe provisi
of new services to meet the specific needs of the community;" and
Transportation Policy 1 which states- "The City will encourage a transportation system
that provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic
interests of the community, and adequately serves the personal needs of individuals;
Transportation Policy 2 which states: "The Transportation Functional Plan shall
developed with costs fully considered and decisions based on cost effectiveness for t
particular element;
and the following Policies, Goals, or Objectives of the Century Plan - Development Plan
Element,
Policy 15, Goal B, Long Range Objective 3 which states: "The City shall provide

sidewalks in high priority, developed areas; "
as well as the entire Transportation Element of the Development Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict
with any other Century Plan Policies, Goals, Objectives, or Elements as required by Section
2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found
and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made
a part hereof, as if copied verbatim.

1) The City of Georgetown, Texas, accepts responsibility for 100 percent of right-of-way
.-,cquisition and utility adjustments as may be required in connection with a Texas Departmekh
*f Transportation Project for the improvement of RM2243 from IH35 to Business 35 in
Georgetown, a distance of 0.6 mile.
2) Acquisition procedures will be in accordance with policies of the Texas Department
of Transportation and with applicable Federal and State laws governing the acquisition policies
for acquiring real property. Utility adjustments must be in accordance with policies of the Texas
Department of Transportation.
2) The City further commits to the contribution of funding to ensure that the project
includes the construction of a continuous sidewalk on the north side of the roadway in this
project.
