A RESOLUTION AUTHORISING THE SUBMITTAL OF
APPLICATIONS FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE UNITED
STATESGOVERNMENT AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE
DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF THE
STATE OF TEXAS; THROUGH THE CAPITAL AREA
PLANNING COUNCIL:
WHEREAS, the United States Government, the Criminal Justice
Division of the Governor's office, and the Capital Area Planning
Council has rannounced that funds are available for the 1990
1991 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, there exists within theDivision of Police Services
a need for additional funds to supplement existing funds for the
purposes of enhancing youth services; improving relationships
between students and police officers; providing drug abuse
prevention and awareness programs; narrowing the focus on
juvenile crime and delinquency, and improve the: apprehension of.
offenders relating to the production, possession and transfer of
controlled substances; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWIr TEXAS, that:
SECTION 1,
The City Council finds that the recitals; set, forth above are true
and correct and are incorporated herein.
SECTION II.
The Police Department is hereby authorized to prepare grant
applications for grant funds for a School Resource Officer., a
Juvenile Law Enforcement Officer, a drug abuse prevention and
awareness program, and other unspecified dangerous drug control
projects.
SECTION III,
The Mayor is hereby authorized to Sign as the Certifying
Representative of the City of Georgetown, Texas,
PASSED AND APPROVED this day of WV 1990,
by a Vote of "Ayes" and "Nos" With (numbed
members of Council present and voting,
