A RESOLUTION OF TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN
SAID CITY ON MAY S, 1990, FOR VOTER CONSIDERATION OF A
PROPOSITION ADOPTING ADDITIONAL SALES AND USE TAXES; AND;
PROVIDING FOR A PROCLAMATION NOTICE AND PUBLICATION OF
NOTICE OF SAID rELECTIONS.
WHEREAS, it is now necessary to hold an election in the City
of Georgetown, Texas, to allow voters to consider adoption of sales
and use taxes within the City; and
IIHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas, is authorized by law
to hold suchelection on May 51 1990;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETONN, TEXAS:
SECTION I
That an election be, and the same is hereby ordered, to be held;
within the jurisdiction of City ofGeorgetown, Texas, on the
6th day of May, 1990, pursuant to the laws ofthe 'State of Texas,
the Charter of the City of Georgetown, Texas, and a contract
between the City and Williamson Coanty for election services, ,Such
election shall be held for the following purposes:
To provide for voting for or against the following
proposition:
The adoption of an additional one-half of one percent sales
and use tax within the City to be used for improvingand
promoting economic and industrial development.
Votes cast in such election shall be separately tallied, and
separate tally sheets, polling lists, and other election forms and
records shall be maintained and kept by City authorities.
SECTION II.
That any such tax approved shall become effective October 11 1990.
SECTION III.
That the Mayor shall make procianation of said City election and
give notice thereof, and a copy of this ander shall be sufficient
notice of said election. Notice of the time and places of holding
said election shall be sufficient notice of said election. Notice
of the time and places of holding said election shall be ,given by
publication of such notice in a nelespaper of general circulation
published in the City ofrGeorgetoom at least thirty (30) days prior
to the day of such election..
SECTION 1V,
That this Resolution shall take effective immediately from and
after its passage as indicated below,
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGEM N, TEXAS,
