Enclosed is the estimate you requested, Jim,
. . . through Tom Twombly.
This job would
take approximately two
weeks here at Altec's facility.
As stated in the note, we would
attempt to
repair the lower left cylinder, but
if it could not be

I he c , to repla e
all
that cylinder WiL - -a r- uilt unit would
th CD L'
be $1100.
The other repairs
are constant in
nature and would only
change if
more were found when the unit is
disassembled.
As is the case whenever a job of this magnitude is undertaken, there
are other items that may require attention. Altec would recommend
you replace the control lines in the boom with the new style 5/16"
colored tubing. The cost for this would be about $750. When the
cables and rods are pulled, the other hoses can be checked better and
may also need replacement.
If you have any questions about this estimate, please call me at
(816)667-5493 or at the main office at (800)541-7723. We at Altec
look forward to working with the City of Georgetown on this and
future projects. Thank you for the opportunity to provide you with
information about our services.

TO: Mayor and City Council
City Manager

Director of Public Utilities
RE: Electrical Bucket Truck Repairs
Recently, the City of Georgetown received their Annual Inspection
on all of their electrical equipment. During this inspection, two
(2) particular bucket trucks within the fleet, were cited by
violations of safety laws. These particular violations stemmed
mainly from mechanical failures due to the extent of use over their
life. After receiving notification of non compliance, the City
request that manufactures of this equipment quote the prices for
their repair. One of these pieces of equipment, a bucket truck
manufactured by Altec Industries, is in need of repairs. Attached
to this memorandum is a letter and break down of work needed in
order to repair the bucket truck for safety standards. The total
price for the repairs of this particular piece of equipment, could
run as high as $6,645.00. This would be for the ultimate repair
job if there was total replacement of the particular parts.
Otherwise, the repairs could be as low as $4,795.00 for repairs.
With the possibility of this work exceeding $5,000.00, 1 will need
Council approval in order to authorize this expenditure. Since
there is only one (1) manufacturer of Altec equipment in the United
States, which is Altec Industries in St. Joseph, Missouri, the
price quoted on this estimate is FOB, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Therefore, there will be some expenditures above the maximum limit
of repair in transporting the vehicle to and from the factory
location. The expenditures for this travel were not budgeted in
the Annual Operation and Maintenance account. Therefore I am
requesting an additional $500.00 for travel expense.
City staff is requesting your approval of the repairs to the Altec
bucket truck in the maximum amount plus travel and authorize Altec
Industries, as a sole source of repairs, to begin this repair as
soon as possible. These repairs are expected to take 3-4 weeks.
