HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 890258 - Agmt Sewer Service Renovate• i b A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS AND GUTIERREZ, SMOUSE, WILMUT AND ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES RELATED TO SEWER SYSTEM RENOVATION PHASE II, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE SAME. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas, is the major supplier of wastewater service within its corporate limits and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that safe and efficient collection of wastewater is essential to the operation of the City's Public Utilities Department; and WHEREAS, Gutierrez, Smouse, Wilmut and Associates, and the City of Georgetown desire to enter into an agreement for engineering services related to the Sewer System Renovation Phase II, and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same; and WHEREAS, The City Council has found that this action implements Utilities and Energy Policy III of the Century Plan, policy plan element and is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies as required by section 2.03 of the administrative chapter of the policy plan. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS; Section I. That the City Council find the recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated herein. Section II. That the City Council approves the Agreement between the City of Georgetown, Texas and Gutierrez, Smouse, Wilmut and Associates, Inc. for engineering services related to Sewer System Renovation Phase II under funding source 06-04-00-5253 of the Sewer Capital Projects and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same which is attached hereto and incorporated here in as a fully set forth at length. Mayor Ci Secretary CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS DATE: June 20, 1989 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Jim Briggs, Director of Public Utilities SUBJECT: Engineering Services for Sewer System Rehabilitation Phase II Construction The City of Georgetown is currently in the process of completin phase II of the Sewer System Rehabilitation • The stud portion of this project was recently approved by Council and hal since been reviewed by the Texas Water Commission. The engineer for this project, Gutierrez, Smouse, and Wilmut was • to submit an engineering contract agreement for the preparation of construction documents. Attached to this memorandum is a copy of that agreement for construction services. The general scope ♦ work as outlined in the agreement under which the engineer will be responsible are • • page 1 through 3 of the agreement. The City Attorney has reviewed these •• as well as City staff and has approved them as being • The construction schedule, as laid out to the engineer, was to complete the plans and ♦ fop this project in order that a late August bid date could be secured. An award date around the first of September would follow. This schedule will allow the City to place a contractor • the project in September in order to be substantially complete by January 1, • During -the budget process, funds for this particular work were not budgeted in the Sewer Capital Projects Funds. A portion of funds allocated in the 1989 budget for Sewer Rehabilitation work were listed under account no. 06-04-00-5253 Smith Branch Rehab Sewer. The funds for this project were determined not to be spent in the 1989 budget with the possibility of funding through the State Revolving Loan Fund in 1990. Therefore, City Staff is recommending that funds for the engineering of construction documents in the amount of $20,212.00 be allocated from this particular capital line item. City Staff is recommending approval of the engineering agreement with Gutierrez, Smouse, and Wilmut Associates for the engineering work related to the construction document preparation on this project and authorization to proceed.
