A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE LIBRARY BORROWERS CARD REGULATIONS TO WAIVE
NON-RESIDENT FEE FOR NON-RESIDENTS PAYING CITY PROPERTY TAXES ON
INDIVIDUALLY HELD REAL PROPERTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown did authorize a
fee for non-resident patrons of the Georgetown Public Library in
1987; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the non-resident fee was to equitably
distribute the cost of library services; and
WHEREAS, non-residents who pay city property taxes are supporting the
library through -their. taxes;
NOW THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
Section I: The Council finds that the recitals set forth above are
true and correct and incorporated herein for all purposes.
Section II: The borrowers card regulations be amended -to waive the
non-resident fee for non-residents who pay city property taxes on
individually owned real property as detailed in the attached Borrowers
Card Regulations.
Passed and approved this day of 1989.

BORROWER'S CARD REGULATIONS
In order to borrow materials for use outside the Georgetown Public
Library, a borrower's card must be obtained. Regulations for obtaining
a borrower's card are as follows:
City ResidentEL
Any adult residing inside the city limits of Georgetown may obtain
a first card free of charge upon presentation of proof of resi-
dence. Acceptable proof of residence shall include any of the
following which bear a current address:
1) driver's license
2) personalized check
3) voter's registration card
4) utility receipt
5) others at the discretion of the Library Services Director
Children under age 16 may obtain cards upon signature of an adult
parent or guardian who furnishes the above proof of residence.
PLEASE NOTE: PARENTS NEED TO SIGN FOR THEIR CHILDREN IN PERSON,
APPLICATION CARDS CANNOT BE SENT IN WITH ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL.
Duplicate cards will be issued to replace lost cards for a fee of
$1.00.
Non -Residents
Any person not residing within the city limits of Georgetown may
obtain a card upon payment of an annual non-resident fee. Non-
resident fees are not refundable. The non-resident fee schedule
is as follows:
Basic Fee
Individual $15.00 (an adult may check, out books for one
child in addition to his/her own
selections)
Family $25.00 (cards will be provided for an unlimited
number of family members)
Senior Citizen (age 65 or older)
Individual $10.00
Family $15.00
College Students $10.00 (college I.D. must be presented)

The non-resident fee may also be waived by the Library Services
Director in cases of need.
Institutions
Facilities which care for groups of people in an institutional
setting, (i.e.: day care centers, adult residence programs, nurs-
ing homes) may obtain a library card to be used to check out books
for the persons under their care. The library card application
must be signed by the responsible party at the institution, and
specimen signatures for any persons authorized to use the card
must be given to the library. The card must be presented each
time materials are checked out for the group. No fee will be
charged for the institutional card.
